Downtown Development Guide
The 2018 Downtown Development Guide Update provides a vision for Downtown Lakeville and helps direct future downtown redevelopment activity and other improvements over the next 10-20 years. The Guide includes recommended action items and implementation strategies to aid the City in its support of Downtown Lakeville as a unique, identifiable and thriving business district.
The planning and review process valued the historic charm of building-lined streets in a true “main street” district and balanced the realities of an ever-changing retail marketplace. Finding the right locations for redevelopment and additional housing density were important considerations that have been addressed in the updated Guide. As part of the update process, feedback was received from downtown stakeholders, the Economic Development Commission, Planning Commission, City Council and the public during two open house meetings and through an online survey.
