The land for Bunker Hill Park was deeded to the City in 1964 by LAD Holding Company with the Donnay's College Park plat. Two outlots were included in their park dedication contribution, due to a clerical error, one of the outlots was sold to a private resident at a later date. The City regained ownership of this outlot in 1995.
Tennis courts were constructed in 2007 and were converted to pickleball courts in 2021 at a cost of $266,70.35. The playground was replaced and other improvements completed in late 2022 at a total cost of $100,950 utilizing park dedication funds.
What Are Park Dedication Funds?
The Park Dedication Fund is sustained through required Park Dedication Fees that developers must contribute at the completion of a new development. The required fees can be satisfied through a cash contribution, land dedication or a combination of both in some for instances. If a park space is not planned for a new development, the fees are collected in cash that can be utilized for new park construction and/or limited improvements. This and more information can be found in Lakeville's City Code.
What is the Adopt-A-Park Program?
Adopt-A-Park is a public service program for volunteers to pick up litter, identify safety hazards and to freely communicate other issues associated with a particular park.
Program Guidelines
Adopt-A-Park is open to community groups, civic groups, churches and individual citizens for a minimum period of one year. Commitments may be for a longer term, preferably at least two years. Park sites are chosen on a first-come, first-served basis with priority given to past Adopt-A-Park participants. For more information about adopting a park, contact Lakeville's Parks Administration by email.
