The land for the construction of Greenridge Park was deeded to the City in 1998 by the Greenridge Association, L.L.P as their park dedication contribution with the final plat of the Greenridge development. The Comprehensive Transportation Plan at the time, identified the need for multi-purpose trails along both sides of Flagstaff Avenue. This trail was already in existence along the east side of Flagstaff Avenue and the west side was constructed with the construction of the development.
The playground was replaced in 2021 at a total cost of $95,545.91 paid for by the Park Improvement Fund. The basketball was reconstructed in 2022 as part of the 2021 Park Bond Referendum.
What Are Park Dedication Funds?
The Park Dedication Fund is sustained through required Park Dedication Fees that developers must contribute at the completion of a new development. The required fees can be satisfied through a cash contribution, land dedication or a combination of both in some for instances. If a park space is not planned for a new development, the fees are collected in cash that can be utilized for new park construction and/or limited improvements. This and more information can be found in Lakeville's City Code.
