After public interest and direction from the Mayor and City Council, staff began developing plans and specifications for a dog park at Ritter Farm Park. At the recommendation of the Parks, Recreation & Natural Resources Committee, a 5-acre plot was identified near the entrance to the park and construction occurred over the summer of 2016. An official ribbon cutting and park opening was held on September 29, 2016. Staff worked with WSB and Associates on a park design that included fenced areas for large and small breeds, watering station and parking area. The entire park is off-leash and is open year round at no cost to visitors. The total cost of the project was approximately $155,000 and was partially funded through donations from Lakeville Liquors and customers of Chuck & Don's with the bulk of the funds coming from the Park Improvement Fund.
