Younger Onset Dementia Caregiver Support Group- Virtual

This support group is for caregivers caring for anyone who has received a dementia diagnosis under the age of 65. Support groups create a safe, confidential, supportive environment and a chance for participants to develop informal mutual support and social relationships. The groups also educate and inform participants about dementia and help participants develop methods and skills to solve problems.

Facing Dementia Caregiver’s Support Group- Virtual & In Person

A group of caregivers meet to learn about dementia and how it affects loved ones and themselves. Caregivers find a place to talk as much as they like about their situation, know that they’re not alone and learn that life experiences of other caregivers can help them day-to-day. People are welcome to come once, monthly or as long as they feel the need.

  • When: First (in person) and third (virtual) Saturdays of each month from 10-11:30 a.m. in the Fountains’ Learning Center. Feel free to come at any time.

Dakota County Library Resources

The Dakota County Heritage Library is a community resource dedicated to supporting lifelong learning and enrichment.  The library offers large print books; books on CD; downloadable books, movies, magazines, and music; homebound delivery; and Bifolkal Kits for planning programs with older adults. Library programs cover many topics and are a no-cost way for caregivers and their family members to enjoy time away from home in an accessible building. Library staff is also eager to provide caregiver support by helping locate local resources.

Programs

Augustana Open Circle Adult Day Program

Open Circle Adult Day helps people with changing physical, cognitive and/or social abilities to enjoy a fulfilling life through social connection in a structured and nurturing setting. Members attend for a six-hour day for $100.  (Extended hours are available at an additional cost.) Funding sources are: private, elderly waiver, alternative care grant, V.A. and some long-term care policies.
