  • Must be a Lakeville resident
  • Must be able to attend all classes
  • Application deadline: December 6th, 2025
  • Civilian background checks and additional paperwork will be required following the application if selected

The Lakeville Citizens Police Academy offers residents a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes of the Lakeville Police Department. This engaging program is designed to build understanding, trust and partnership between officers and the community we serve.

Through interactive presentations, hands-on experiences and open discussions, participants gain firsthand insight into the operations, challenges and responsibilities of modern policing.

Program Highlights

Participants will explore key aspects of law enforcement, including:

  • Patrol Operations and Investigations
  • Use of Force — Lethal and Non-Lethal
  • Specialized Units: K-9, SWAT, Street Crimes Unit, Crime Scene Unit, and more
  • Traffic Stops and Use of Deadly Force Policy
  • Ride-Along Experience with an Officer
  • Virtual Training Scenarios

What to Expect

Throughout the academy, attendees will connect directly with Lakeville officers, experience practical demonstrations and gain a deeper understanding of our mission to serve and protect. Graduates receive a Certificate of Completion and, more importantly, a stronger connection to their community and local law enforcement.
